The MPs have divergent opinions as to how the national political crisis can be overcome. The Socialists and the MPs of the Shor group said an interim Government could be voted in to stabilize the situation in the country, while representatives of the PAS consider a transitional Government will put off the snap elections for an indefinite period of time. Representatives of the PPPDA noted their party is ready to assume governance, but their initiative is ignored by President Sandu, IPN reports.

The PAS MPs welcomed President Sandu’s decision to nominate again Natalia Gavrilița for Prime Minister, saying they are hopeful the second attempt to vote in the Government will fail too and snap parliamentary elections will be this way triggered.

“Our main objective, which is also the wish of the people, is to induce snap parliamentary elections. We realize the delicacy of the situation, but we were extremely explicit in our approach and message,” PAS MP Virgiliu Pâslariuc stated in the talk show “Ghețu Asks” on Tv8 channel.

For their part, the Socialist MPs and the MPs of the Shore group maintain President Sandu violated the Constitution and the Constitutional Court will give its verdict.

“The presidential administrator should be a catalyst for the political processes. The President should not be the one that causes political crises in the country. The procedure for nominating the candidate for Prime Minister wasn’t respected as there was a conjuncture parliamentary majority. The President is entitled to nominate a candidate only when there is no majority,” stated MP of the Shor Party Denis Ulanov.

“There should be a period of stability first and, immediately afterward, we will go towards snap elections. It depends on the Constitutional Court’s decision who will assume responsibility for the country in this period of transition,” noted Socialist MP Vladimir Odnostalco.

The representatives of the PPPDA said they are ready to assume governance by a minority Government led by Andrei Năstase.

“The PPPDA aims to become involved in this process by assuming extraordinary responsibility. We are ready to create a transitional Government with Andrei Năstase as Prime Minister. Regrettably, our initiative was rejected,” stated PPPDA MP Kiril Moțpan.

After the first attempt to invest the Gavrilița Government failed, President Sandu invited the parties to consultations. As a result of discussions, she decided to field again Natalia Gavrilița for Prime Minister. The President’s decree was challenged by the Socialist MPs in the Constitutional Court.
