MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Gheorghe Agheorghiesei was elected mayor of Vărzărești village of Nisporeni district, IPN reports.
According to the Central Election Commission’s data, Gheorghe Agheorghiesei of the PAS in the runoff vote polled 52.81% of the vote. His challenger Constantin Ungureanu, who ran as an independent, gained 47.19% of the vote.
Gheorghe Agheorghiesei is to decide which of the posts he will keep – of MP or of mayor. The seat of MP is incompatible with the posts of President of the Republic of Moldova, Cabinet member, ombudsperson, local elected official or any other remunerated post, including in another state or at an international organization, except for teaching and scientific activities performed outside the set program.
