Democratic lawmaker Dumitru Diacov proposed that the legislative body should create a commission that would cooperate with the so-called supreme soviet of Tiraspol. He argued that no such platform existed for many years, IPN reports.
Dumitru Diacov noted that the Transnistrian conflict settlement remains a topical subject and the legislature should take a step towards creating a communication platform at the very beginning.
The leader of the Liberals Mihai Ghimpu replied that such a commission would mean de facto recognition of the independence of the secessionist region because the legislative body cannot have a commission for cooperation at local level. Communication with Tiraspol must exist, but not at parliamentary level.
