Ştefan Gaţcan left the parliamentary group of the Party of Socialists to join the parliamentary group Pro Moldova. The MP elected in constituency No. 38 Hâncești posted the announcement on Facebook, IPN reports.

“I’m a doctor by profession and all my life I struggled for the health of patients, mothers and children. For over three months, I have sat in Parliament. I had never been a party member, but I accepted this challenge with a great wish to lend a hand, with my modest experience, to developing the Republic of Moldova and the healthcare sector,” wrote the MP.

He noted that while serving as an MP as part of the parliamentary majority during these several months, amid the pandemic and unprecedented crisis in the health system, he ascertained a complete lack of progress and efficient measures for saving the healthcare system. “The team of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova had a unique chance to solve people’s problems and save the country from the experienced crisis. Regrettably, the interminable political struggles, serious management mistakes, unprofessional decisions, lack of courage and even acceptance of fakes in the management of the COVID-19 crisis made me distance myself from these actions that go beyond the interest of the people and the state,” wrote Ştefan Gaţcan.

“I’m profoundly impressed by the courage, abnegation and force with which the new party “Pro Moldova” struggles for the interests of the people and the country and I fully subscribe to their latest actions and initiatives, in particular in the social sphere.”

The “Pro Moldova” group now has 15 MPs already. The government coalition formed by the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party remained with 49 MPs of the 101 - 13 Democratic MPs and 36 Socialist MPs.
