MP Igor Klipii says that in connection with the latest developments and statements on the Transnistria dispute, this issue should be discussed in the Parliament at meetings attended by Chisinau officials.
At Thursday’s meeting, Klipii said that there are plans, statements, agitation, initiatives on this subject, but the Parliament does not take part in all this. It would be fair to invite Minister of Reintegration Vasile Sova, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, police representatives to the Parliament to clarify at least something.
The MPs will learn more about this subject, including the opinion of the political parties in the Parliament, he said.
During recent interviews, President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin put forward a number of proposals on the settlement of the Transnistria conflict. Among these are the cancellation of restrictions on the free movement of officials and persons holding important positions, joint participation in the formulation and carrying out of projects on the restoration and modernization of the infrastructure, especially in the transport sector, implementation of measures on the phased demilitarization and disarmament, constitution of joint armed forces etc.
A communiqué released on Thursday evening by the Reintegration Ministry says that a working meeting attended by representatives of ministries and of central public authorities discussed security and trust strengthening in the context of the Transnistria issue as well as social assistance measures for the population from the left bank of the Nistru. Working groups were set up to work out and implement projects built on the recent initiatives of President Vladimir Voronin in these areas, the communiqué says.
