The Movement of Transnistrian Refugee is determined to resume the protests against the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) if it does not adopt decisions to distribute apartments to members of the Movement in an erected block in the near future. Related statements were made by representatives of the Movement at a news conference on September 21, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the organizers, the Government of Moldova in 2004 adopted the plan of action for providing the internally displaced people with dwellings. Under the given plan, the CMC allotted two plots of land in Ciocana district on which to build two apartment buildings. One of the buildings was put in commission. Eighty families of internally displaced persons live there. As to the second building, the local authorities have not even drawn up the lists of persons who will receive apartments there, said the Movement's president Anatol Bazgu.
“During June-May this year, we submitted all the documents for the given building legalized at the notary to the Chisinau City Hall. We are concerned that the CMC has not yet drafted a decision to adopt the list of 80 recipients of apartments in the block located on 21/5 Milescu Spataru St.”
If no measures are taken, the Movement will resort to new protests. “We will demonstrate in front of the participants in the CIS Summit that will take place in Chisinau and inform the national and international communities that our rights are being infringed,” Anatol Bazgu said.
Refugee Tamara Tudorescu said that she had to leave her house in Transnistria during bombings. “We were offered an one-room apartment in Chisinau and have lived there five persons for 17 years. We now have the chance of receiving a new apartment, but they want to deprive us of this joy.”
The organizers reminded that on July 28 Moldova was convicted by the ECHR in the case of Simion Racu versus Moldova for not providing Racu, who is a refugee, with state dwelling. The Court ruled that Racu's rights to a fair remedy and to the protection of property were violated.
“Moldova infringed our rights and we appealed to the ECHR. Over 120 applications have been filed to it so far,”Anatol Bazgu said.
