The involvement of both of the parents in the education of the child is crucial because the mother and father offer the child different models of communication and interaction with those around. Psychologist Renata Tiron, of the public association CCF Moldova, has told IPN that only by the example of both of the parents, the child learns an integral model of relationship and knows how to communicate both with boys and girls.

The psychologist said the child learns from both of the parents how to behave toward mates when they see how the parents communicate between them and put these models into practice. “Thus, the models of both of the parents are absolutely necessary for interacting. The woman is more flexible and warm in communication and smiles, while the man usually negotiates, establishes partnerships and sets borders. When both of the parents are present, the child can learn an integral model of communication,” stated Renata Tiron.

In the case of children aged between 0 and 3, when the kids are most vulnerable, the involvement of both of the parents is absolutely necessary as the children are dependent on them. At this age, they cannot eat, dress and walk by themselves and are permanently in need of assistance.

Renata Tiron said the role of the fathers at this age if that of support for mothers, who are mainly involved in housework and childcare. This is psychological, emotional and physical support as the fathers assume particular activities and the mothers are thus calmer in the relationship with the children.

In the case of boys, the presence of the father is mandatory because they learn how to behave in society, how to take decisions and how to show courage and strength from the father at an early age. “When the child is 2-3 months, he learns a lot by interaction with the parents, who should stimulate him by talking to him and by touching him,” stated Renata Tiron.

During the first months of life, the child is very close to the mother because she gives birth to him and breastfeeds him, but the child should be taught to be more independent. In this case, the father plays the role of preventing the mother from being involved nonstop in childcare. This is necessary for the child to learn to be independent from an early age.

At the age of 3-6 years, when the child goes to kindergarten, this learns from the parents how to behave in society – how to eat, how to tie the shoelaces, how to blow the nose and to button the buttons. In this case, the children also need to learn skills by the example of both of the parents.
