After processing 96.14% of ballots, the results confirm that Veaceslav Iordan, the candidate of the Party of Communists, and Dorin Chirtoaca, the candidate of the Liberal Party, will run in the second round of elections for mayor in Chisinau. According to the results, Iordan received 28.32% of votes, and Dorin Chirtoaca obtained 24.26 % of the votes. The following electoral competitors are Leonid Bujor, who garnered 9.54 %, Vladimir Filat, who got 8.28% of the votes, Dumitru Braghis, who collected 8.03%, Alexandru Corduneanu with 5.59 %, and Eduard Musuc who obtained 3.05% of the votes. The other candidates polled less than 3.00 %. In the race for the municipal Council of Chisinau, the Party of Communists obtained 27.19% of the votes, the Liberal Party- 18.39%, the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance Party – 12.07%, the Democrat Party of Moldova- 6.86%, the Christian-Democrat People’s Party- 6.57%, the Social Democracy Party - 5.27%, the Humanist Party- 3.59%, the Social Democrat Party, the Electoral Bloc “Patria-Rodina-Ravnopravie” collected 3.45%, and the National Liberal Party obtained 2.59% of the votes. A number of political parties, citing numerous violations, requested the recount of ballots and repeat elections in Chisinau.
