Most of Moldovans do not know how electoral campaign develops

44% of the Moldovans do not know how the electoral campaign for the July 29 early elections develops, while each third considers it is conducted with violations, says the sociological survey “Vox Populi” presented on July 15, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the poll, 43% of those surveyed consider that some of the parties are favored by the mass media, 29.8% do not know as they do not follow the electoral campaign, while 27.2% believe the media provides equal conditions for all the election contenders.
The respondents said they inform themselves about the voting procedure from the mass media. 13% of those polled said they did not find their names in the electoral rolls when they wanted to vote in the previous elections.
43 of the respondents do not approve of the boycotting of the election of the head of state by the Opposition, while 33.7% said it was a right step. 6% of those questioned said they are indifferent to this.
The number of persons who consider that the elections in Moldova are not free and fair is practically equal to the number of persons who are satisfied with the way of holding the elections – 38.5% and, respectively 37.9%. 23.6% did not know how to answer this question.
Over 74% of the Moldovans are dissatisfied with the political life in the country, while 17% of them said it is a major concern for them. More than 34% of the respondents have an interest in politics to a great or a very great extent, while 66% consider that it is very important that the people take part in the July 29 elections.
The survey was carried out by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova between July 1 and 10. It covered a sample of 1,592 respondents older than 18 from 75 settlements. The poll was commissioned by the Association of European Election Officials and the Institute for European Integration and Political Science of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. The margin of sampling error is plus-minus 2.6%.
