The number of units of public transport in Chisinau and its suburbs will be increased on May 21, when the “European Moldova” Assembly will be held in the central square of the capital city. For the commodity of citizens, on the event’s website the authorities published the map of parking places that will be available this Sunday, IPN reports.

The Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă told a news conference that the Great National Assembly Square was reserved for May 21 for the “European Moldova” Assembly. He made reference to the Commission for Exceptional Situation’s decision according to which until June 2, in case of simultaneous rallies, priority will be given to the assembly notices submitted by the central public authorities.

“The safety of people at the” European Moldova” Assembly is key. The General Police Inspectorate and other state institutions will prevent any attempt to use violence and will maintain public order. I make this comment because we had politicians who showed irresponsibility and invoked possible aspects related to security. So, these accusations are absolutely unfounded. The police know how to manage the flow of people and will maintain public order, ensuring the peaceful conduct of the event on May 21,” stated Daniel Vodă.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs will fluidize traffic so that the citizens who want to get to the central square of Chisinau do it unrestrictedly. “There were comments in the public space about the organization of transport and other aspects. The persons who possess relevant information are invited to provide it to the authorities. The transport is not organized or financed by the authorities. The people are issued with signed invitations that can be seen in the public space,” noted the spokesman.

According to the authorities, members of the Moldovan diaspora will come together in 33 European cities on May 21.

The “European Moldova” Assembly announced by President Maia Sandu is to transmit a firm message to the international community about the Moldovans’ sincere wish to be part of the European family. The event is staged ahead of the European Political Community Summit that Moldova will host on June 1.
