More civil status documents to be available online

On November 17, the Civil Status Service, in partnership with the e-Government Centre and the Ministry of Justice, started the second stage of digitizing civil status documents that constitute the archive stock of the Civil Status Service. The spectrum of services the people will be able to require online will be extended by 12 more civil status documents, from 8 to 21, IPN reports.

During about 32 months, there will be digitize another 9 million civil status documents dating from 1945-2001. On the one hand, the digitization will facilitate the people’s access to high-quality public services. On the other hand, it will ensure more efficient and safe data management, stimulating the development of new governmental electronic services.

The digitization comprises scanning, introduction of metadata, quality checking and transfer to MCloud – the joint governmental technological platform that ensures a high level of security and availability.

Certificate digitization is a project launched on July 12, 2013 within the Government e-Transformation Agenda. During its first stage, there were digitized 4 million civil status documents.
