Monument to remember Nistru war deaths will be built in Cocieri

A monument to honor the soldiers and civilians who died during the armed conflict on the Nistru River will be erected in the village of Cocieri, which saw some 1,000 people killed in the hostilities, including 65 inhabitants of the village, Info-Prim Neo reports. The costs of erecting the monument will be covered from the village budget, from donations made by former combatants and other contributions, while the installation works will be supervised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. People in this village were among the first to face Cossacks troops sent by the separatist authorities in Tiraspol. It then became a resistance point that deterred multiple attacks from Tiraspol. Later the surroundings of the village were called the Cocieri battlefield.
