Money allotted for the nourishment of children in Chisinau’s kindergartens to rise by 10%

The sums allotted for the nourishment of children in the kindergartens of Chisinau will increase by 10% starting April 1. A decision in this respect was made by the Chisinau Municipal Council on Thursday, March 15. At present, the value of the food allowance for one day in the kindergartens is MDL 10.5. Of them MDL 7 are provided from budgetary means and MDL 3.5 are paid by the parents. The increases will be operated on the basis of supplementary financial means, almost MDL 2 mln, coming from the surplus money formed at the beginning of this year. Previously, head of the Department for Education, Youth and Sports Tatiana Nagnibeda said that starting the second quarter, about 500 children with tuberculosis were included in the list of beneficiaries which will receive free meals. Financial means for food were increased especially for the children from auxiliary schools and kindergartens with a programme of 24 hours. The students studying in the I-IV forms and about 6 thousand children from disadvantaged families studying in the V-IX forms of the schools located in Chisinau are provided free of charge with breakfast. About 145 pre-school institutions are functioning in Chisnau having a number of 27 354 children, which are provided with hot meals 4 times a day.
