MPs of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova observed a moment of silence in memory of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The proposal was put forward by PAS MP Natalia Davidovich, who said that Alexei Navalny was “a brave man and an honest politician”, IPN reports.

“On February 16, the whole world was shaken by the assassination of Alexei Navalny in a prison in Russia’s far north. That’s all we need to know about Putin’s criminal empire, which kills people who have a differing opinion. A regime that fears its people, fears democracy and free speech,” stated the MP.

She invited the people to come to the screening of the film “Navalny” at Odeon Cinema at 6 p.m. on February 29. Entrance is free of charge. The documentary tells about the poisoning of Alexei Navalny in the summer of 2020, the investigation of this crime and the treatment and recovery of the politician. In 2023, when Navalny was in jail, the film by Canadian director Daniel Rohen won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

Alexei Navalny was 47. He was held in a penitentiary in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service on February 16 announced that he reportedly felt unwell after a walk. Alexei Navalny will be buried on March 1 in Moscow.
