This year the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” offers for sale about 21,000 spruces and pines for private and state-owned companies and for individuals. Most of the spruces are provided by the forestry companies Edinet, Glodeni, Iargara, Manta-V, and Tighina, IPN reports.

A Christmas tree is one meter to six meters high. The initial price of the trees remained the same as last year: a spruce of one meter at nurseries costs 36 lei, while a pine tree - 25 lei, VAT included. The branches are sold for 8 lei. For the trees higher than six meters, “Moldsilva” set a supplement of 100 lei per meter of spruce and of 70 lei per meter of pine, which is added to the mentioned prices.

The spruces in nurseries will be cut starting with next week and until December 31, depending on the demand. The growing of spruces and pines especially for the winter holidays is planned by “Moldsilva” by 5-7 earlier.

The fine for illegally cutting spruces in forests or other green areas is 800 to 1,000 lei for private individuals and 8,000 to 10,000 lei or community service for legal entities.
