Moldova’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take the stage in Malmö in the second part of the first semifinal on May 7. The draw was held on January 30, IPN reports.
Ukraine, Cyprus, Poland, Serbia, Lithuania, Croatia, Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland, Finland, Portugal, Luxembourg, Australia, and Azerbaijan will compete in the first semifinal alongside Moldova, Teleradio-Moldova Company said in a press release.
The representatives of Austria, Malta, Switzerland, Greece, Czech Republic, Albania, Denmark, Armenia, Israel, Estonia, Georgia, Netherlands, Norway, Latvia, San Marino, and Belgium will contend in the second semifinal on May 9.
Romania does not participate in this year’s competition.
The draw also decided which semifinal the Big Five countries (which automatically qualify for the final) and host country Sweden will vote in. Viewers from Germany, Sweden and the UK will vote in the first semifinal, while those from France, Italy and Spain will vote in the second semifinal.
Moldova's representative at Eurovision 2024 will be chosen at the National Final on February 17. The score will consist of the jury votes and televotes weighted equally 50-50. Following the live auditions, 11 contestants were selected.
The final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place on May 11.
Last year, Moldova was represented by Pasha Parfeni, who ranked 18th with the song “Sun and Moon”. Moldova’s best result at Eurovision was in 2017, when SunStroke Project won the third place with the song “Hey Mamma”.
