The inventory of Moldova's large lakes has been finalized. This is announced by the Ministry of Environment. Lakes with a total area of more than 35 hectares were checked. The checks were carried out jointly with the National Administration "Moldova's Waters", IPN reports.

The results show that out of the 58 lakes inspected, 34 are in a satisfactory state, while in the other cases interventions are needed. The major problems identified are erosion, cracks in concrete, corrosion of metal structures and the need to modernize emergency water drainage systems.

The National Administration "Waters of Moldova" will come with recommendations to all owners and managers of these lakes to intervene and exclude any form of danger.

"Water protection is a national priority. Climate change, lack of precipitation, including in winter, and rising temperatures are putting increasing pressure on surface and groundwater. That is why we are working intensively to implement effective solutions," said Environment Minister Sergiu Lazarencu.
