Moldova’s industry, in January, registered a lower level comparing to the same period of last year

Industrial enterprises of Moldova produced, in January 2006, goods of 1,460,900 lei. The indicator of the industrial production compared to January 2005 was 99%, according to data of the National Bureau for Statistics.
According to it, within this period, comparing to January 2005, there were registered growth of industrial production volume in producing bricks and tiles (2.2 times), metallurgic industry (1.8 times), perfumes and cosmetic products (with 52%), jewellery (with 46%), tanning and leather processing (with 33%). With 24% each has increased the volume of finished goods of metal, steam and hot water supply, cement production, lime and plaster. Under 20% it has increased carpet and doormats production, production and delivery of electric power etc.
Decrease of industrial production volume, compared to January 2005, was registered at the enterprises producing labour-saving devices (with 82%), agricultural machines (with 62%), tobacco goods (with 50%), concrete, plaster and cement elements (with 45%), wood processing and wood articles production (with 39%), drugs and pharmaceutical goods production (with 38%), stone cutting, shaping and finishing (with 38%), medical equipment and instruments production (with 32%), mining industry (with 28%), pump production (with 22%), cloth, travel and leather articles - with 12% each.
Enterprises of food industry and drinks in whole decreased the production with 3%, especially in main types of activity: cacao, chocolate and sugar goods production (with 25%), milling goods (with 22%), wine (with 20%), and beer (with 18%). In the same time it was registered an increase fruit and vegetables processing and conservation (with 64%), meat production, processing and conservation (with 24%), oil and fat production (with 21%), milk production (with 10%) etc.
The experts affirm that decreasing of the tempo of industry increase is due to limits and incapacity of an insufficient developed infrastructure, low investments level, especially in real sector of the economy, complicated external political environment, incapacity of native goods to compete on external markets, as well as lack in the native enterprises of specialised staff of international level in marketing area.
Industrial enterprises of al type of property produced, in the period January-November 2005, goods of 18 billion 998,72 million lei, representing with 6% more, comparing with the same period in 2004.
