Moldova's GDP up 7.6% in 9 months

In January-September 2008, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) amounted to 47.149 billion lei, up 7.6 percent on the similar period last year, the National Statistics Bureau reported. The Bureau ascribes the growth to an increase of 11.2 percent in the gross added value in the goods sector and of 18 percent in the net taxes on goods and imports. At the same time, the gross added value in the services sector contributed to GDP with a share of 62.6 percent, as against 61.0 percent in the similar period last year. The overall growth pace decrease from 110.3 percent to 106.4 percent, while the growth pace of the share of net taxes on goods and imports in GDP diminished from 124.2 percent in January-September 2007 to 110.4 percent in the similar period this year. At the end of the second quarter GDP stood at 28.778 billion lei in current market prices, up 5.4 percent.
