Moldova’s exports to Romania up over 40%

The Moldovan exports to Romania over January-November 2007 rose by 40.7%, the National Bureau of Statistics said. Romania takes the second position among the first 14 export partner countries, which together accounted for 88.6% of the total exports. Russia tops the list with imports of 211.3 mln USD (+25.5%). It is followed by Romania with 190.3 mln USD (+40.7%). Ukraine imported Moldovan goods worth 152 mln USD (+52.9); Italy - 126.6 mln USD (+21.3); Germany 78.5 mln USD (1.7 times more); Belarus – 73.6 mln USD (+14.1%); Kazakhstan – 43 mln USD (twofold more); Poland 41.7 mln USD (+29.7%); the UK – 31.3 mln USD (+27.8%); Austria – 30.2 mln USD (2.6 times more); Turkey – 29.7 mln USD (+13.3%); Bulgaria – 24.9 mln USD (1.9 times more); Switzerland – 21.8 mln USD (1.6 times more); France – 20.1 mln USD (+4.1%). Exports over eleven months totalled 1.21 bln USD, a 30.5% increase year on year. Exports to the EU member states (EU–27) added up to 613.2 mln USD, or by 31.0% more compared with January-November 2006, making up 50.5% of the total exports (50.3% in January-November 2006). The CIS countries accounted for 41.1% of Moldova’s exports, as against 41% in the corresponding period of 2006. Exports to the CIS states amounted to 500 mln USD, a 31.1% increase compared with January-November 2006. Imports over January-November 2007 came to about 3.27 bln USD, a 38.5% increase year on year. Imports from the European Union (EU-27) rose by 39.7% compared with the corresponding period of 2006, up to 1.49 bln USD. They made up 45.6% of the total imports. Imports from the CIS states totalled 1.18 bln USD, or by 33.0% more on last year. They made up 36.2% of the total imports. The considerable discrepancy between imports and exports in the first eleven months of last year led to the accumulation of a balance-of-trade deficit of 2.06 bln USD, which is by 628 mln USD (+43.8%) higher as compared with the pervious year’s.
