Moldova’s exports increased in 5 months

In January-May 2007 Moldova’s exports summed up 481.4 mln US dollars, which is by 25.9% more than the volume registered in the same period last year. Exports to the EU countries totalled USD 244.9 mln (+40.1%), accounting for 50.9% of the total exports (45.7% in January – May 2006).
The CIS states contributed 37.3% of Moldova’s exports (January – May 2006 - 46.2%), which equals the value of USD 179.5 mln. Exports to these countries increased by 1.6% as compared to the same period last year.
The top 12 partner-countries in what concerns exports, holding 83.9% of the total volume, were Romania with USD 76.8 mln (a 1.5% rise), The Russian Federation - with USD 73.7 mln (-21.5%), the Ukraine with USD 54.4 mln (+23.1%), Italy – USD 50 mln (+19.5%), Germany – USD 30.5 mln (+1.9%), Belarus – USD 28.7 mln (+10.1%), Switzerland – USD 18.1 mln (+7.1%), Turkey – USD 15.9 mln (+18.2%), Poland – USD 15.8 mln (+1.8%), UK & Northern Ireland – USD 14.8 mln (+1.6%), Kazakhstan – USD 14.4 mln (+2.2%), France – USD 10.8 mln (+6.6%).
In January – May 2007 the imports represented USD 1306.4 mln, which is by 38.4% more than the volume registered in the same period of 2006. Imports from the EU countries (EU-27) summed up USD 592.9 mln (by 46.2% more than in January – May 2006), which equals 37.0% of the total import volume (40.7% in January – May 2006).
