Moldova has chances to quicker integrate into the EU, if a democratic government comes following the elections of 2009, president of Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu told a news conference on Thursday, May 8, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Ghimpu, the present government actually does not have an opening towards the European integration, “aspects emphasized through the deedless words of the rulers.” The interest of the European officials for Moldova is a permanent rise, yet, the lack of interest of the Chisinau power is obvious through the little information reaching the European floor, specifies the Liberal leader. Mihai Ghimpu says Moldova's image should be intensely promoted in Europe, so that the integration efforts should be seen and heard by European MPs. According ot the deputy president of the party, Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, the Moldovans' willingness to integrate into the EU was reiterated at the hearings unfolded by the Liberal-Democratic group of the European parliament on the topic: “Moldova and the European future” in Brussels, on May 6. From the discussions with the European authorities it is clear that Moldova has big chances to integrate withint he coming 10-20 years, provided the Moldovan authorities carry out the Moldova-EU Action Plan. There is also a chance to cancel the visas for Moldovan citizens traveling to EU countries, before the country joins the Union. The Liberal leaders say EU parliamentarians have a critical view as to the law preventing Moldovans with dual citizenship to accede to state positions.
