The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the completion of internal procedures for the implementation of the Government's decision on the opening of an embassy in Kazakhstan, which is one of the largest economies in Central Asia. According to the Ministry, this decision helps Moldova to expand its trade relations and profit from the new economic opportunities in the region, IPN reports.

In 2023, trade between Moldova and Kazakhstan amounted to US$101.55 million, up 52% compared to 2022. In the period, Moldova's exports to Kazakhstan came to US$41.11 million, up 44% on 2022.

The embassy will help attract investments from Kazakhstan to Moldova. It will also contribute to the promotion of Moldovan products. Another objective is to support Moldovan businesspeople to establish direct contacts and participate in economic events.

The mission will also facilitate a more dynamic dialogue at political level, support cooperation within international organizations and open up new opportunities for investment. The embassy will provide support to the Moldovan community in Kazakhstan, which numbers over 20,000 people.

"While Moscow tries to limit us through political obstacles, the Republic of Moldova is building commercial and human bridges with countries around the world. Through this initiative, the Government aims to diversify economic partnerships and strengthen the country's position on international markets," said Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
