By summer, all the consulates and embassies of Moldova working abroad will be provided with equipment needed to collect biometric data. The equipment will be bought with the €2 million grant provided by the European Union. The grant will also go to cover the costs of training the consular personnel that will use the equipment, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting Deputy Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman. The data collected outside the country will be transmitted to Chisinau in conditions of maxim security. The passports will be produced in Chisinau and then sent to the embassies and consulates. The tender contest to purchase the equipment is held by the EU Delegation to Moldova. “We trust the quality and finality of this process,” said Natalia Gherman. Moldova has 33 embassies and consulates abroad.
