The Sports Complex of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacology hosted the international badminton tournament “Winter Chisinau 2017”. The competition involved about 180 athletes from ten countries, IPN reports.
“There were 50 sportspersons at the first edition. Now there many persons who want to compete in this tournament. We want to promote this competition so that it makes our country famous,” president of the Moldovan Badminton Federation Marian Stan has told IPN.
Only Moldovans emerged victorious in the professionals’ competition. Alexandru Ursatyi and Vlada Ganca scored victories in singles. Ganca also won in doubles, together with Petru Cunev. Vitalie Izbas and Vladimir Leadavski, who last year took part in the European championship, also achieved a good result in doubles.
It was the sixth “Winter Chisinau” tournament.
