Five persons from Moldova, Romania and Austria are investigated for trafficking a number of Moldovans. The General Police Inspectorate said the victims were recruited in the course of 2021 on the pretext of being offered high-paying jobs in the European Union, IPN reports.

The suspects are aged between 45 and 60. They forged Romanian IDs for the victims and then forged individual work contracts based on these. The persons weren’t created the promised conditions and weren’t paid the agreed salary. The police established that during a year the suspects transported over ten persons abroad and asked sums varying between 10,000 and 20,000 lei from these for the trip, IDs, accommodation and food.

Recently, the police carried out searches at the home of an accomplice from Moldova and in his car. They seized packets with drugs, drafts and other proofs.

The 60-year-old suspect is investigated outside remand. He faces seven to 15 years in jail. He earlier served a 15-year jail term for another offense.
