Moldovans driving in the UK. New step towards recognition of driving licenses

Driving licenses issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova will be recognized in the United Kingdom. During a meeting with the Deputy Director of the Europe and Central Asia Department of the British Foreign Office Mark Clayton, Ambassador Ruslan Bolbocean expressed the Moldovan authorities’ gratitude for receiving the draft agreement on the recognition and conversion of driving licenses issued by the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

“Progress on such an agreement is a priority in the bilateral relations between the two countries and was frequently addressed as a topic in previous discussions. In order to advance in the negotiations, the draft is to be examined by the relevant authorities of both countries, in accordance with the provisions of the national legislations of each of them,” reads a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova.

Ambassador Bolbocean welcomed the UK’s readiness to make progress on this important topic, underlining the significance of the agreement for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, appreciation was expressed to the British Foreign Office for its openness and readiness to address this high-priority issue in a move to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The Republic of Moldova signed treaties on mutual recognition of driving licenses with Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Albania, Spain, France, Greece, as well as a joint declaration of intent on the transcription of driving licenses with Germany.
