The sum of the property taxes, accumulated in the first 5 months of 2009 increased by 6 million lei compared to the same period of the last year, while only 39% of the taxpayers have paid their taxes so far, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The effects of the crisis did not occur yet. This is proved by the 6 million increase of the property tax sum. While in the first 5 months of 2008, the accumulated sum rose to 47 million lei, in 2009 it has already exceeded 53 million. The growth is due to the taxpayers conscience in paying their fiscal obligations, while benefitting from a 15% reduction”, Igor Turcanu, head of the Local Taxes and Fees Division of the Main State Tax Inspectorate, told a press-conference on Wednesday.
In the first 5 months, the sum of the collected land tax amounted to 25.7 million lei, and that of the tax for immovable property – to 27.5 million.
The two taxes can also be paid in two installments, until August 15 and until October 15. “If the taxes are fully paid until June 30, a 15% reduction is applied”, Igor Turcanu specified. The reductions granted until May 31equal 7.3 million lei.
In compliance with the Tax Code, a daily 0.06% penalty will be applied if the payment of property taxes is delayed.
The following categories are exempted from property taxes: pensioners, 1st and 2nd degree invalids, invalids from childhood, war veterans, participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl Nuclear Station accident, formerly deported persons.
