Moldovan wines import to Russia issue is discussed on Thursday on Moscow

Moldovan officials will present on Thursday, 30 March, Chisinau position regarding banning of Moldovan wines imports, announced recently by Russia, according to Russian press reports. General manager of the Agro-industrial Company „Moldova-Vin”, Valeriu Mironescu, said that the main sanitary doctor of Russia, Ghenadii Oniscenko, who proposed to ban Moldovan wines on Russian market, refused to meet with Moldovan delegation on Thursday, visiting Moscow. She and also other experts of this area reject Russia’s accusations regarding wines’ quality of Moldova. Previously, the Chairman of Wine Exporters Union of Moldova, Gheorghe Cozub, noted it could not be talked about presence of pesticides of II and III degrees in Moldovan wines, about which Oniscenko has mentioned, as Moldova has not imported them for five years. More than this, the winners would not use them as they are very expensive. Regarding the iron, Cozub said that the latter one is included in the wine in quantity regulated by the International Grape and Wine Association, and this quantity is not dangerous for the health and does not change the quality of the wine. At last negotiation round regarding Russia’s adhesion to World Trade Organisation (WTO), held in Geneva, Moldova’s delegation was against this. Chisinau will insist on this position until Russia cancels the restrictions to Moldovan wines import. Georgia, USA, Australia and Columbia also are against Russia’s adhesion to WTO. On Monday, 27 March, Ghenadii Oniscenko required to appropriate services to forbid wine imports from Moldova and Georgia. According to Russian press, at the press conference held in Moscow at 13:00, Moscow time, the ministry of economics and commerce, Valeriu Lazar, will attend it being in Russian capital for negotiations with Gazprom on gas price. General manager of Agro-industrial Company „Moldova-Vin”, Valeriu Mironescu, the head of the State Inspection on alcoholic production supervision, Andrei Gurin, the deputy head of the sanitary service, Iurie Panzari, and general manager of the biggest Moldovan wine import company in Russia „Vinii mir”, Dina Covalciuc, also will attend it. The market share of Moldovan wines in Russian Federation is about 60%. Moldova is on 11 place in the top of world wine exporters.
