A joint commission responsible for the implementation of the memorandum of understanding on digital transformation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania was created today. The constitution meeting took place in the context of the visit paid to Chisinau by Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization of Romania Sebastian Ioan Burduja, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization Iurie Țurcanu.
The Republic of Moldova needs last-generation technologies to be implemented here in accordance with the EU standards, Iurie Țurcanu stated in a news conference held by the two officials. According to the Deputy Premier, the changes in this field will be more successful if the Republic of Moldova goes in partnership with Romania.
The joint commission will work on the development of high-quality public electronic services, automation of administrative processes and cybersecurity. The electronic signatures will be mutually recognized. “By the creation of the joint intergovernmental commission in the field of digital transformation, we transmit a clear message to the citizens and the authorities at national, regional and international levels and to the business and ICT communities from the left and the right sides of the Prut - that this joint digital space between Chisinau and Bucharest will propel us to new administrative and economic levels,” stated Iurie Țurcanu.
For his part, Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization of Romania Sebastian Ioan Burduja said that digital unity is a chance for development. “Digital transformation means the connection of people to opportunities, the connection of citizens between them, the connection of citizens to the services offered by the state, the opportunities offered by the private businesses. From this perspective and not only, the Republic of Moldova, by the efforts made by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, is ahead of many states of the European Union, including Romania,” he noted.
The memorandum of understanding on digital transformation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania that was signed on February 11 provides for the stimulation of bilateral cooperation, exchange of experience and mobilization of technical, financial and human resources for developing the joint digital space.
