The producers in the Republic of Moldova are able to export walnut saplings to the EU. Following amendments made to the legislation of the European Union, it is allowed importing from Moldova grafted walnut saplings (Juglans regia L) intended for planting and parent stock younger than two years with empty roots, in vegetative recess, without leaves, IPN reports.

The National Food Safety Agency recommends those interested to start negotiations with partners from EU member states so as to establish commercial relations and supply this product to the EU.

In August 2022, the Republic of Moldova obtained the right to export apple saplings (Malus domestica) to the EU during the next three years.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry said that the possibility of exporting apple and walnut saplings to the EU is the result of efficient technical cooperation between the National Food Safety Agency and the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission based on multiple information exchanges and technical discussions with European experts.
