Moldovan Prime-Minster pleads for deepening trade and economic relations with Bulgaria

Between Moldova and Bulgaria already exists a strong juridical base for bilateral collaboration, but a strengthening of the commercial-economic relationships is needed. This declaration was made by the Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev within the meeting with Ivalo Kalfin, deputy prime-minister, minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, who is officially visiting Moldova. According to a Governmental press-release, the prime-minister mentioned about the growth tendency of the commercial-economic relations in 2005, though he pleaded for a closer cooperation between Commerce and Industry Chambers of Moldova and Bulgaria, organizing business-forums etc. Facilitating the visa regime would certainly contribute to the strengthening of the economic and cultural relationships between the two countries, specified Tarlev. In this context, the premier opted for speeding up the signing of an agreement in this area, mentioning that such a visa system could be created on the basis of the existent agreement between Poland and Lithuania. The sides emphasized the importance of an efficient control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, especial on the Transnistrian segment, in the context of ensuring security and stability in the region. Ivalo Kalfin mentioned that the solution of establishing an international monitoring at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border is the most efficient one, and implementing new border-crossing rules will lead to a constant control over the inflow of goods. During the meeting of the Bulgarian official with the president of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin the present stage of bilateral cooperation was examined. The mutual interest for finding new strengthening and expanding opportunities the Moldovan-Bulgarian relationships was emphasized. The Bulgarian Vice prime-minister underlined the intention of his country to plenary support the efforts of Moldova on the way to territorial integrity and European integration. In this context, Ivailo Kalfin stated once more the availability of Bulgaria to share the experience gained in the process of European Integration, expressing his surety that implementing the Cooperation Memorandum in the area of EU and NATO integration, signed within the visit to Chisinau will contribute essentially to this process. On Monday, May 29 was signed the Cooperation memorandum in the area of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration between the Governments of the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria, Until now between the 2 states 36 collaboration agreements were signed.
