The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Supreme Rada of Ukraine concluded a Memorandum of Understanding. The document was signed by Speaker Igor Grosu and his Ukrainian counterpart Ruslan Stefanchuk during the second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform, which took place in Czechia.

According to a press release issued by the Moldovan Parliament, the memorandum of understanding was signed with the aim of intensifying bilateral parliamentary relations, considering, among other things, that both Moldova and Ukraine aspire to become EU members.

In particular, Moldova and Ukraine agreed to strengthen cooperation to regulate a common framework for supporting parliamentary processes and procedures. The cooperation will aim at supporting and promoting democratic values, fundamental rights and freedoms, stability and security in the region, improving the standards of legislative processes and procedures that will allow the effective incorporation of the EU integration agenda and intensifying cooperation with NATO. Also, the Parliament of Moldova and the Supreme Rada of Ukraine will strengthen their efforts for more efficient management of possible crises and for the promotion of common interests in order to get closer to the European Union.

Also, the two legislatives will make efforts to strengthen the institutional capacities to increase transparency and provide analytical support and research in the legislative process.

The Moldovan Speaker Igor Grosu is now in Prague, participating in the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform.
