The official monthly rate of the Moldovan leu slides down, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
In relation to the US dollar, the depreciation slid from 10.8191 lei for USD1 in March to 11.1488 lei in April.
The official average monthly rate of the leu to the euro dropped from 14.1208 lei for 1 euro in March to 14.7194 lei in April.
As to the Russian ruble, the depreciation slid from 0.3125 lei to 0.3323 lei for a ruble.
Later in April 2009, compared to later December 2008, the Moldovan leu depreciated in nominal terms by 8% to the USD, and by 10.10% in real terms.
The total volume of US dollars traded on the interbank market in April 2009 was 132.33 million, dropping 347.32 million month on month (479.55 million dollars.)
