The international tournament “Independence Cup” held in Chisinau brought together 90 athletes younger than 20 from Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Belarus, and Spain, IPN reports.
The Moldovan judokas won most of the finals at the Cup. “I hoped to win the first place, but I could have lost the fight for the third place. I made effort during the last seconds and won,” the winner of the European Olympic Youth Festival 2015 Ion Mihailov, who competed in the 60kg class, stated for the press.
The tournament was organized by the Moldovan Judo Federation in concert with the Ministry of Youth and Sport. The competition’s budget was about 300,000 lei.
