An exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany was opened today at the National History Museum of Moldova. The exhibition reflects the close diplomatic, cultural and economic connections developed during these years. “It is important that the visitor who will get acquainted with this exhibition will understand very well what is the role of Germany in the economic, social and cultural life of the Republic of Moldova”, stated Eugen Sava, general director of the National Museum of History.

The director thanked the German Embassy for the support given to Moldova, including to the museum. “Many of our colleagues, thanks to the support of the German embassy and German research institutions, received research grants in universities and museums in Germany... Our museum, thanks to its relations with various museums in Germany, participated in international exhibitions organized in Germany. I believe that these exhibitions have brought to Germany broad knowledge about the Republic of Moldova and our national heritage. This exhibition is a great idea that we, of course, supported and we are glad that it will be running at the National Museum of History until August 21”, said Eugen Sava.

According to the vice-president of the German Bundestag, Katrin Göring-Eckardt, the informative exhibition reflects the diversity of relations between Moldova and Germany. “During this exhibition we discovered impressive figures. More than 10,000 students from about 80 schools throughout the country learn German. This exhibition shows how diverse our relationships are. It is a mobile exhibition that will be presented in other places, in and outside of Chisinau. We must all be grateful to the people of both countries who have contributed and continue to contribute to the development of bilateral relations”, the official said.

“Moldova is doing a lot for the people who had to leave Ukraine because of the war. It is important to ensure the security and stability of the Republic of Moldova in these times. We will support Moldova in this sense", added Katrin Göring-Eckardt.

Tanja Beyer, member of the German Embassy in Moldova, said that the exhibition is important both for Moldova and for Germany. “We are marking 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries and through this exhibition we demonstrate what we have achieved together during these years, which is important for our countries. I am very glad that the exhibition is on display at the National Museum of History, because anyone interested will be able to visit it”, noted Tanja Beyer.

Diplomatic relations between Germany and Moldova began with the signing of the protocol texts on April 30, 1992. Germany was one of the first Western European countries to open a diplomatic mission in the Republic of Moldova.
