A group of lawyers consider that Moldova’s representatives at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) act in collusion with representatives of the Court and take measures to thwart the examination of complaints submitted by Moldovans against the state.

In a news conference at IPN, the lawyers said that Moldova’s delegation at the ECHR should not examine the cases before submitting them to the European judges.

Lawyer Ilie Rotaru said he recently started to suspect that the answers he receives from the ECHR are falsified. In the news conference, he presented a number of letters signed by the main registrar of the ECHR, but the signature is different from his. By these letters, the lawyer is informed that the filed applications were rejected.

The lawyer suspects that representatives of the ECHR and members of Moldova’s delegation work in collusion in order to prevent a large number of convictions against the state. “The media reported that the number of applications submitted by Moldovans to the ECHR has doubled. But the authorities boast that the number of accepted applications has decreased,” stated Ilie Rotaru.

Lawyer Anatol Bazgu also referred to the different signatures of the ECHR registrar. He said that a case that he represents at the High Court has been delayed for a period. He is also dissatisfied with the way the ECHR informers the persons who lodge applications that their complaints are not accepted, namely by a simple letter, without arguments and without inviting the person or their representatives to the examination of the application.

Lawyer Constantin Lazari said that by this news conference they give a warning. The people want to know how objectively their applications are examined.

The lawyers also said that the legal norms are violated in Moldova, while the prosecution bodies continue to fulfill party orders.
