Moldova’s national boxing squad will return with two medals from the European Boxing Championships held in Minsk, Belarus. On June 5, two Moldovan boxers have qualified for the competition’s semifinals. Thus, they will win at least the bronze medal, IPN reports.
In the 64 kg class, Dumitru Galagot beat Azerbaijan’s Gaybatulla Gadzhialiyev 2-1. On June 7, he will compete with Germany’s Artem Harutyunyan for a place in the final.
With the same result, Petru Ciobanu (81 kg) defeated Simone Fiori of Italy and will thus fight with Peter Mullenberg of the Netherlands for qualification for the final.
Vasile Belous (69 kg) was close to qualifying for semifinals, but lost to Pavel Kastramin of Belarus 0-3 in quarterfinals.
At the European Boxing Championships, Moldova is represented by 10 boxers.
