Boxers Dumitru Galagot and Alexandru Rascan qualified for the semifinals of the 64 kg class and, respectively, the 52 kg class at the World Universiade held in Kazan, Russia. Thus, the two athletes will win by at least a bronze medal, IPN reports.

Galogot qualified for the semifinals after beating Enkhzorig Zorigtbaatar from Mongolia 2-1. On July 9, he will compete with Armenia’s Artur Kirajyan for a place in the final. Rascan defeated easily Sangdon Choe from South Korea 3-0 and will meet Russia’s Mihail Aloian in the semifinals.

Pugilist Victor Ialimov (91 kg) will qualify for the semifinals if he wins against Dylan Bregeon from France in a match later today.

Athlete Alexei Cravchenko failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 400 m hurdles. He finished 19th in the qualifiers with the result of 52.47 seconds.

During the first days of the University Games, Moldova has won three bronzes, through weightlifter Oleg Sarghi and wrestlers Igor Besleaga and Anatolie Moldovan.
