The Moldovan Banks Association said that the banks are disposed to offer permanent support to the clients from the agricultural sector, which experience difficulties in repaying the raised loans. The partner banks aim to identify individual measures for each client, given their specific situation. The support comes to aid the farmers who face difficulties caused by the regional conjuncture, said the Association, being quoted by IPN.

The Moldovan Banks Association noted that the agricultural sector has made significant progress and has been supported by the bank sector by being allocated increasing amounts of money. On October 31, 2023, the loans provided by Moldovan banks to the agricultural sector came to 5.3 billion lei, with over 5,000 agricultural companied and farmers having been financed. Of the total number of agricultural companies and farmers, 7% were late in making payments, with delays of over 30 days. The situation is comparable with that witnessed a year earlier, when 6.6% of the agricultural companies and farmers had delays.

In November and December, the payment capacity has worsened in the case of debtors from the agricultural sector. The Moldovan Banks Association, together with the bank community, is ready to provide support to farmers so as to overcome the existing situation and to ensure the development of the agricultural sector.
