The Transnistrian conflict has chances to be solved till the year-end, reiterates the Moldovan President. Vladimir Voronin said Tuesday at a meeting with the mediators and observers in the talks, there were real prerequisites to attain this goal, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Presidential press unit. The head of the state has announced Chisinau's plans to organize an international conference this fall regarding the post-conflict development of Moldova, which is likely to establish the parameters of the future reintegration of the country. Vladimir Voronin says money will be earmarked in the state budget to institute a fund for the reintegration, which is wanted to be filled from international donations. At the discussion, the special envoy of the OSCE president-in-office, ambassador Heikki Talvitie, has mentioned the need to step up the work of the working groups devising trust-building measures between Chisinau and Tiraspol. The official has announced the availability of the OSCE countries to contribute to the process, reads the presidential communique. Expressing the EU's position on the proposals regarding the Transnistrian settlement, the EU envoy to Moldova Kalman Mizsei has stressed the importance of resuming the 5+2 talks and of identifying Transnistria's special status. David Merkel, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, welcomed Moldova's putting up the proposals for the Transnistrian settlement. The Moldovan proposals offer a good start to resume the talks, for settling issues linked to the special status of the area to carry out trust-building measures between Chisinau and Tiraspol, said the Ukrainian representative at the talks, Aleksandr Gorin. Both Aleksandr Gorin, and the Russian envoy, Valery Nesterushkin, stressed the existence of high potential to realize the agreement on the Transnistrian settlement, “which should capitalized by joint efforts.”
