The relations between the authorities and the Moldovan people are very bad, considers Vitali Catana, expert of the Public Policy Institute. “If the population had a better alternative than the one offered by Moldova, we cannot say what option the Moldovan people would choose. The authorities’ concern that 10,000 people renounce the Moldovan citizenship is only an aspect of the problem,” Catana said during a roundtable meeting on the draft National Security Strategy, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I can assure you that most of the people in conflict with the law or our public administration become in time lost for Moldova,” the expert said. According to him, time will come when the Moldovan people’s devotion to the state will be put on trial. In order to prevent an unfavorable result, the decision makers should incorporate a chapter including a mechanism for strengthening the relations between the state and the people into the National Security Strategy. The National Security Strategy was drafted on the basis of the national security conception approved by the Parliament on May 22, 2008. On December 31, 2008, the Government published the draft strategy on its website (www.gov.md) for public debates. Proposals can be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration by January 19.
