Moldovan athletes bring 11 medals from World Shotokan Karate Championship

The senior, youth and junior national team returned with 11 medals from the World Shotokan Karate Championship held in Belgrade, Serbia, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Education and Research said that in the senior category, three gold medals were won by Vitalie Spînu (+80 kg) and one gold by Anastasia Spînu (-58 kg), in the women's competition. Daniel Mutelica (-80 kg) and Vasile Dovzii (-80 kg) won bronze medals.

Another gold medal was won by Maxim Gutu in the youth category, in the up to 78 kg weight class.

In the junior competition, Alina Țugui became world vice-champion (+57 kg), whereas Milena Ciobanu (+57 kg), Corina Opacinschi (-57 kg) and Cristian Braga (-63 kg) won bronze medals.
