Daniil Leontean from Moldova won a silver medal at the open junior archery championships of Ukraine that were held in Vinitsa town, IPN reports.
Even if he was several years younger than his opponents, Leontean managed to rank second among 67 competitors. The score of 575 points enabled the Moldovan archer to become a master of sports.
Vinitsa also hosted the Cup in memory of Boris Melnic, who won bronze at the 1972 Olympic Games. Here, Daniil Leontean finished first in the Under-16 category. In the same age category among girls, Diana Curteanu ranked first. The competition in Ukraine was a stage in the preparations for the Youth Olympic Games of 2018.
