SA Moldovagaz announced that it requested the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) to reduce the average natural gas charge for end users at regulated prices for 2023, IPN reports.

According to the presented calculations, the average natural gas charge should be decreased to 16,492 lei per 1,000 cubic meters of gas or by 36.8% from the current charge.

“The significant decline in the price at which SA Moldovagaz purchases natural gas from SA Energocom for satisfying the needs of consumers from the right bank of the Nistru, in accordance with the decisions taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, is the main factor that leads to the necessity of reviewing the charges,” the supplier said in a press release.

It requested that the charge at points of exit from natural gas transmission networks should be 13,978 lei per 1,000 cubic meters, down 43.9% from the current charge, at points of exit from high-pressure gas transmission networks – 14,454 lei, down 42.6%, from medium-pressure networks – 15,476 lei, down 39.3%, from low-pressure networks – 18,456 lei, down 31.9%.

The last time, the natural gas charges for end users were raised on October 1, 2022. Then, the National Agency for Energy Regulation approved a charge of 27,103 lei/1,000 m3, plus 8% VAT. A cubic meter of natural gas this way costs almost 30 lei.
