Moldova wins two more medals at Nanjing Youth Olympics

The national squad of Moldova has won two more medals at the Youth Olympic Games held in Nanjing, China. Dumitru Ceaucusta won silver in freestyle wrestling, while Tatiana Doncila won bronze in women’s wrestling. Earlier, canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi brought a gold medal to Moldova, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Youth and Sport said wrestler Dumitru Ceaucusta won the silver medal in the 100 kg class, being beaten in the final by Igbal Hajizada of Azerbaijan by 1-3.

According to a note of the National Olympic Committee, Tatiana Doncila competed in the 46 kg class, alongside another seven athletes. In the first round, she beat Miranda Bramley of New Zealand by 0-8 during 01.57 minutes, which is half of the time reserved for a battle. In the second round, North Korean athlete Sonhyang Kim defeated her by 3-6. This athlete became Olympic champion.

For the bronze medal, Tatiana Doncila struggled against Adrianny Castillo of Venezuela and scored 3 points during 4 minutes.

The same day, Nicoleta Dulgheru represented Moldova in gymnastics and ranked seventh in the qualifying rounds.

Serghei Tarnovschi continued the competition in canoe C1 slalom, a new category that is mandatory for all the canoe C1 sprint athletes. He failed to qualify for the final.
