Taekwondo wrestler Ana Ciuchitu has won the G-1 Dutch Open tournament that was held in Eindhoven. On the way to the final, the 17-year-old athlete beat the representatives of Sweden, Belgium, Canada and Spain, IPN reports.
In the final of the 62 kg class, Ciuchitu met a wrestler from Azerbaijan, whom she demolished 8-0. She also won the tournament in the Netherlands in 2015.
In Eindhoven, Moldova was also represented by brothers Stepan and Vadim Dimitrov. Only Stepan mounted the winner’s rostrum in the 58 kg class. He scored four victories before the final, but ultimately lost 11-12 to Tavin Hanprab of Thailand, who medalled silver at the Rio Olympics.
The competition in the Netherlands brought together 1,200 athletes from 52 countries.
