Moldova wins five medals at World Karate Championship

Moldova has won five medals at the World Shotokan Karate Championship that was held in Bulgaria. Timur Castravet medalled gold, IPN reports.

Renat Stavarachi, Iana Diacova and Maxim Yurchenko won silver, while Denis Lupashko won a bronze medal. Moldova was represented by 11 athletes.

“I’m satisfied with these results. We gained experience and next time will win more medals,” coach Dumitru Bejan has told IPN.

Moldova’s squad took the 12th position in the team rankings. The competition involved over 1,000 athletes from 26 countries.
