The national wrestling team of Moldova won the first medal at the European Wrestling Championships that are taking place in Latvia. Moldovan wrestler Donior Islamov medaled bronze, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Donior Islamov won bronze in the Greco-Roman wrestling competition in the up to 59 kg class. He beat Serbia’s Kristian Fris 8-0 as a result of two spectacular maneuvers.
At the European Wrestling Championships in Latvia, Moldova is represented by 16 athletes.
