Moldova will continue to work with the OSCE to address regional security challenges, but also to advance cooperation on security, human rights and the fight against corruption, President Maia Sandu stated during a meeting in Vienna with Helga Schmid, Secretary General of the OSCE, IPN reports.

“We continue to rely on the support of the OSCE to facilitate dialogue and support the sides involved in reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement”, said the president, expressing appreciation for OSCE’s support for Moldova in the Transnistrian settlement process.

Priorities on Moldova’s agenda with the EU were discussed during a separate meeting with Michael Linhart, Austria’s Minister of European and International Affairs. Maia Sandu thanked him for the openness of the Austrian partners to promote Moldova’s European course. Meeting with Austrian Deputy Prime Minister Werner Kogler, Sandu discussed the possibility of expanding bilateral economic relations.

The visit to Vienna continued with a meeting with members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan president appreciated the constant support in the implementation of programs and projects in priority areas for Moldova, such as the development of vocational education, job creation for young people or increasing the competitiveness of the economy by supporting digital transformation.

Maia Sandu was on an official visit to Vienna on October 21 and 22, on the invitation of her Austrian counterpart.
